2020 Summer Theater Camp Update

It is with heavy hearts that we have decided to cancel the 2020 Summer Theater Camp due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are in the process of issuing refunds to those already registered. Feel free to email emma.herlinger@gmail.com with additional questions, and stay tuned for more information about 2021 camp (and possibly a virtual event this summer!).

For the past seven summers, L.I.F.E., the Beach School PTO, the Ferndale School District and the Lummi Island community have worked in partnership and created a wonderful performing arts opportunity for children grades K-12th.

LIFE’s 8th Annual Lummi Island Summer Theater Camp will run June 29th - July 11th, 2020. This year's cast will perform West Side Story, the High School Version. From the first notes to the final breath, West Side Story is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time and Arthur Laurents' book remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever; the score by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim are still widely regarded as among the best ever written.

Last summer our 7th Annual Summer Theater Camp was a smashing success,  engaging over fifty participants from all over the United States and Canada in the magic of musical theater of Crazy For You, Jr. and an additional musical theater experience for our nine year old and under campers, Broadway Bound!

This summer, our staff includes Choreographer Pam Kuntz, Music Director Jason Parker, and Director Mark Kuntz.   Alyssa Daschbach returned as Dance Captain, Hadassah McGill as pianist and Erna Gregory returns as volunteer Managing Camp Director.

Lummi Island Summer Theater Camp is supported by our community with many volunteers and strong support from the Ferndale School District.

From the get-go, Lummi Island Summer Theater Camp has been a huge success!  For our first production, of "Annie" 24 campers join us, next we chose Rodgers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific".   For the summer of 2015 we performed Strouse, Adams and Stewart's  "Bye Bye Birdie" for which we had 46 campers enrolled.  In 2016 it was Gilbert and Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance" followed by Meredith Wilson's "Music Man".  Each summer our camp continues to grow as campers return to Lummi Island and new campers of all ages join us for the first time.

Every summer our campers learn about acting, staging and voice and explore solo as well as ensemble singing and movement with professionals that have worked all over the country.

Get ready for Summer 2020!   More exciting news in store so please stay tuned!!
