Lummi Island Foundation For Education Mission
Lummi Island Foundation for Education (LIFE) is committed to sustaining and enhancing education at Beach School and for children on Lummi Island through current and long-term financial support and stability. Read more about how we function.
Founded by Lummi Island residents in 2009, LIFE is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) public charity 509 (a) (2) dedicated to supporting education on Lummi Island and the ongoing operation of the Island’s Beach Elementary School.
We are committed to supporting the educational goals and objectives of Beach Elementary School students, faculty, staff, Parent Teacher Organization, and the Lummi Island community.
LIFE’s major capital-raising aim is to accumulate sufficient, perpetual funds needed for the support of education on Lummi Island and at Beach Elementary School and to continue maintaining the highest level of educational programs and services, both required (e.g., curricula) and supplementary (e.g., voluntary programs).
LIFE provides limited and specifically defined advocacy efforts at federal, state, and local school district levels about issues of education in general, and about Beach Elementary School directly.
- Staging and promotion of fund-raising events.
- Identifying and pursuing grants in order to fund current and long-term projects that result in positive effects on student learning and achievement.
- Advocating for legal actions that impact Beach Elementary School.
- Researching issues related to the LIFE mission, and informing the Lummi Island community of results to enable appropriate, beneficial actions and decisions.
